Drinking water filter
What should I look for when buying a drinking water filter?
Despite high standards, tap water contains undesirable substances and is therefore filtered again in every household using a drinking water filter. Filters of this type are available in different versions, for example with fully or semi-automatic backwashing. A fully automatic model is characterized by the fact that the flushing process is initiated by a programmable timer, whereas a semi-automatic model requires manual operation for this purpose. Fully automatic filters are particularly suitable if you want to ensure reliable, regular cleaning of the water filter, with no manual maintenance required. You only need to replace the filter fabric by hand, as this has to be changed at regular intervals to ensure the filter effect.Another fundamental difference is that there are filters with or without a pressure reducer: a pressure reducer is designed to reduce the incoming water pressure to a level suitable for domestic use. However, it may be that you already have a pressure reducer installed upstream, because sometimes these are also set separately, which is why the water filter installed after the pressure reducer no longer needs this function. So when replacing an existing filter, you should consider the type of installation. The pipe diameter should also not be forgotten, as this is used to determine the size of the flange – 3/4 inch, 1 inch and 1 1/4 inch sizes are available.incidentally, you can also find spare parts such as filter cartridges, fabric filters, pressure gauges or seals in our shop.
